Ajustco’s Award-Winning Lock featured at Select Home Depot stores in the U.S. and Canada

New York, NY. October 7, 2014 – The Home Depot®, the largest home improvement retailer in the world, is now offering the award-winning adjustable barrel bolt AjustLock® in select United States and Canada-based mega stores. The globally patent-pending AjustLock is manufactured by Ajustco®, a New York City based startup that develops innovative, category killer products.

Launching in over 200 stores across the U.S. (in and around Los Angeles – California, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, DC and Florida) and over 60 stores in Canada, AjustLock solves the age-old problem where doors, gates and stalls get misaligned due to loosening of hinges or swelling of floors, rendering traditional surface bolt locks useless. This revolutionary line of locks, including barrel bolts, slide bolts and pad bolts, combines an adjustable catch with a beveled strike to facilitate a smooth locking action. AjustLock is strength and weather-tested for outdoor usage, and is available in several colors, sizes and finishes, including stainless steel. The Home Depot is currently featuring the four most popular sized locks in the Zinc finish, with the possibility of expanding to include more of AjustLock’s 50+ SKUs in the near future.

“To have our flagship product featured in the world’s largest hardware retailer within 18 months of launching is surreal”, notes Ajustco’s CEO and Co-Founder, Jason Stile, “it’s a testament to the power of game-changing innovation, and to The Home Depot’s vision.” Stile invented AjustLock in response to a dream that he had in 2008, where the lock appeared to him as a solution to an offset door. He then partnered up with marketing guru and Co-Founder Arman Rousta to raise capital, build a brand and bring his dream to life.

Having toured the world attending hardware tradeshows, the Founders have gotten a positive response from nearly 100% of buyers, across all categories from local dealers, to large co-ops like Orgill, to big box retailers – landing the biggest fish of them all, The Home Depot. They hope to see The Home Depot expand distribution from eight U.S. states and select Canadian provinces into all 2,266 stores worldwide within six months.

AjustLock recently won several awards at the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas, including the Retailer’s Choice Award and NHRA’s Whole Packaging Award, for its Interactive Quarter Pallet display, which is being showcased in Home Depot US stores. “We are honored by these accolades and thrilled that The Home Depot recognized the value of our interactive display”, says Rousta, whose marketing agency, Blueliner, owns a stake in Ajustco, created the brand and designed all of its packaging and marketing materials, “Our goal with the display’s Try Me feature is to make the customer experience as straightforward as possible; and to make evident that traditional barrel bolt locks are now obsolete.” The display, which can be found in Builder’s Hardware aisles of Home Depot, features two offset locks – one traditional and one AjustLock – which demonstrates how AjustLock still works when offset, due to its innovative, adjustable catch.

Meanwhile, in The Home Depot Canada, AjustLock is strategically co-branded under the well-known Everbilt brand, replacing its red Ajustco packaging with Everbilt-branded packaging, and titled “Adjustable Barrel Bolt”. The Canadian stores have AjustLock on the pegs, without the interactive display, at the moment.

AjustLock is not yet available nationwide in either the U.S. or Canada.
